Set Up a Project
Create a tracking project for Google, Bing, YouTube, the app stores or the LLM Tool from Project settings in the Client panel.

What is it?
A project in Prism is the workspace for one website or brand. In the app it is sometimes called a master project. Your account is linked to it by the Prism team or your admin.
Inside that project, you create tracking projects for each channel you want to follow, such as Google rankings or the LLM Tool. The Team screen calls them child projects. Each tracking project has its own domain, location, device, frequency and list of keywords or prompts.
Why use it?
Rank tracking and AI visibility reports only show data for the tracking projects you create. If a report says, for example, No Google projects linked to this account yet, you need to add a Google tracking project here.
Before you start
- You must be a project admin or owner. Viewers cannot open the Client panel. See Roles and permissions.
- Your account must be linked to a project. If the Client panel shows No projects assigned yet, ask your admin to add you.
- Prepare your keywords or prompts as an Excel file (.xlsx or .xls). See the file format below. For the LLM Tool, you can also let AI write your prompts.
How to use it
Open the Client panel
In the Prism panel, click Settings in the System group of the left sidebar. The + New project button in the project switcher opens the same place.
Pick the project
In the Client panel sidebar, check the project shown under Your projects. Click it to switch to another one.
Open Project settings
Under Workspace, click Project settings.
Pick the channel tab
Choose the tab for the channel you want: Google, LLM Tool, Bing Rankings, YouTube, Play Store or App Store. You only see tabs for channels that are turned on for your project.
Click Create Project
Click + Create Project. The Create project form opens on the right.
Fill in the form
Complete each numbered section (see the table below). Fields with a star (*) are required.
Add your keywords or prompts and save
Upload your Keywords or Prompts Excel file, or generate prompts with AI on the LLM Tool tab. Then click ✓ Create Project. The form closes and your new tracking project appears in the table.
Understanding the screen
The form fields
The form has numbered sections: Project & Brand, Targeting, then the channel's own sections, and finally the Keywords File or Prompts File.
| Field | What to enter | Channels |
|---|---|---|
| Project Name* | A name you will recognise in reports. | All |
| Brand Name* | Your brand as people write it. Optional for Play Store and App Store. | All |
| Domain field | The label changes by channel: Domain for Google, Brand Domain for Bing and the LLM Tool, Channel ID for YouTube, App ID (Package Name) for Play Store, Bundle ID for App Store. | All |
| App ID (Optional) | Your app's ID, such as com.company.app, if you have one. | Google, Bing |
| Brand Aliases | Other ways people write your brand name. | LLM Tool |
| Language*, Country*, Location* | Where and in which language to track. Pick the location from the suggestions list. | All |
| Device Type* | desktop or mobile. | Google, Bing, YouTube |
| Sync Frequency* | How often the data refreshes: the options set up for your project, such as Daily, Weekly or Monthly. | All |
| Advanced schedule | Pick your own day (and time) for Weekly or Monthly refreshes. See Project settings. | All |
| LLM Platforms | The AI platforms to check your prompts on. Select at least one. | LLM Tool |
| SERP Competitors | Competitor brands and domains for each search result type, such as Organic Results, Featured Snippet or AI Overview. | |
| Competitor Intelligence | Up to three brands to track next to yours, with their domain (or channel ID for YouTube). Optional. | All except Google |
Frequencies and LLM platforms are set for your project
The Sync Frequency options and the LLM Platforms list come from what is set up for your project. If nothing is set up, the form shows one of these hints:
- No frequency configured on the master project for this channel — ask your admin to add one.
- No LLM platforms configured on the master project — ask your admin to add one.
Keywords and prompts files
Only Excel files (.xlsx or .xls) are accepted. The first row must have exactly these headers. The order does not matter, but nothing can be missing and nothing extra can be added.
| File type | Required headers |
|---|---|
| Keywords (Google, Bing, YouTube, app stores) | Keywords, Brand, Category, SubCategory |
| Prompts (LLM Tool) | Prompts, Category, SubCategory |
A category is a group for your keywords or prompts, such as a product line. You can then filter reports by category and sub-category. Read more in Keywords and prompts.
Generate prompts with AI
On the LLM Tool tab, the Prompts File section has two choices: Upload Excel and ✦ Generate with AI. A prompt is a question you want to ask AI assistants, such as "best running shoes in India".
With ✦ Generate with AI, Prism reads your brand's website. It writes a description, suggests competitors and topics, then drafts prompts with a category and subcategory for each. You can edit everything.
- Choose how many prompts you want (up to 100).
- Click Start generating … prompts and follow the steps.
- When it is done, you see … prompts ready. Use Review & edit, Export Excel or Discard.
- Click ✓ Create Project. The prompts are saved as the project's prompts file.
Each prompt generated uses 1 AI prompt credit. The form shows how many credits are left, for example "40 of 100 AI prompt credits left". If none are left, you see No AI prompt credits left for this project — ask your admin to add more.
Example
For example, you want to track 50 keywords for your shoe store on Google in India, on mobile, every week. Open Project settings, choose the Google tab and click + Create Project. Enter "Shoes – Mobile" as the project name, your brand name and your domain. Pick the language, country, location and device, then choose Weekly as the frequency. Upload a file with the headers Keywords, Brand, Category and SubCategory, and click ✓ Create Project.
Tips
- Create one tracking project per device or location you care about.
- Use the same category names across your files so reports group neatly.
- To change a project later, use Edit in the Actions column of the table. See Project settings.
- New Google SERP and LLM tracking projects are not shown to viewers automatically. Grant them on the Team screen. See Team members.
