This page explains the account menu, how long a sign-in lasts, and the two panels in Prism.

The account menu

In the Prism panel, the bottom of the left sidebar shows the selected project and your name. Click the gear icon on the right to open the account menu. In the Client panel, click your name at the bottom of the sidebar.

The menu shows your name and email at the top, then three options:

OptionWhat it does
Edit profileChange your first name, last name and mobile number. See Edit your profile.
Change passwordChoose a new password. Prism emails you a code to confirm it. See Change your password.
Log outSigns you out right away and takes you to the sign-in page.

How long you stay signed in

A sign-in lasts 8 hours. The time counts from the moment you sign in, even if you keep working. When it runs out, Prism signs you out and opens the sign-in page with this message:

Your session has expired after 8 hours. Please sign in again.

This also happens if you come back to an open tab after the 8 hours, for example after your laptop was asleep. It is not a problem with your data. Sign in again and carry on.

If you are not signed in and open a Prism page, Prism sends you to the sign-in page.

The Prism panel and the Client panel

Prism has two panels. They do different jobs.

When you sign in, Prism opens the Prism panel. Use the project switcher at the top to move between your projects. See Navigating Prism.

The Client panel is labelled Client portal at the top of its sidebar. To go back to your reports, click Back to Prism just below it. The Client panel opens on the Team screen.

If you can't open the Client panel

If you are a viewer on all your projects, you do not see Settings in the sidebar. If you still reach the Client panel, for example through + New project in the project switcher, you see a page called You don't have access to this page. It says:

  • You need admin or owner access on at least one project to open this panel.
  • "If you think this is a mistake, ask your project owner or administrator to update your access."

The page also shows which email you are Signed in as. You have two buttons:

  • Go to Prism takes you back to your reports.
  • Sign in with a different account logs you out so you can sign in with another email.

To get more access, ask your project owner. Learn more in Roles and permissions.

If you can't open a page in the Prism panel

If a page is not part of your project, you may see This module isn't available. Prism then moves you to a page you can open. To ask for the module, see Request access to a module.

If you have no projects yet

If the Client panel shows No projects assigned yet, your account is not linked to a project workspace. It says "Ask your admin to add you to a project." See Team members.

8 hours from when you sign in. After that, Prism signs you out and shows Your session has expired after 8 hours. Please sign in again.

Does Prism keep me signed in if I'm active?

No. The 8 hours count from the moment you sign in, even if you keep working. Save or export your work before the time runs out.

Why can't I open the Client panel?

The Client panel is only for project admins and owners. If you need it, ask your project owner to change your role.
