Prism reads your data from Google with read-only access. When you click a connect button, Google asks you to sign in and allow access. Then Prism asks you to pick a property or site. Most connection problems happen in one of these steps.

Connection messages

Errors during the Google steps appear under the heading "Connection failed". Click Back to Integrations and try again.

"Failed to start … connection"

You may see "Failed to start Google Search Console connection" or "Failed to start Google Analytics connection" on the Integrations screen.

Why it happens: Prism could not open the Google sign-in step.

How to fix it:

  1. Refresh the page.
  2. Click the connect button, or Reauthenticate, again.

What to check next: if it keeps failing, check your internet connection, then email support.

The card says "Needs attention"

Why it happens: The card shows ⚠ Needs attention after the next daily sync fails. This happens when Google access was removed or expired. For example, someone removed Prism in their Google account, or the Google account lost access to the property. It can also be a short Google problem. The card shows the error, or "The last sync failed. Reauthenticate to restore the connection."

How to fix it:

  1. Open SystemIntegrations & MCP.
  2. On the card with ⚠ Needs attention, click Reauthenticate.
  3. Sign in with a Google account that still has access to the property or site.
  4. Pick the same property or site and click Connect property or Connect site.

Reconnecting clears the error. The card goes back to ● Connected.

What to check next: if access was removed, no new data syncs until you reauthenticate. Other failures are tried again at the next daily sync. See Reconnect or disconnect.

The person who connected has left

Why it happens: The connection used that person's Google account. If they lose access to the property, the next sync fails.

How to fix it:

  1. Click Reauthenticate on the card.
  2. Sign in with another Google account that can see the same site or property.
  3. Pick the same site or property.

What to check next: picking the same site or property keeps your history.

The card says "Can't reach server"

Why it happens: Your browser could not reach Prism to check the connection status. The card shows ⚠ Can't reach server.

How to fix it:

  1. Check your internet connection.
  2. Refresh the page.
  3. If you are on a company network or VPN, try again without it, or ask your IT team.

What to check next: if it lasts more than a few minutes, email enquiry@techmagnate.com.

The Analytics screen says "Not connected"

Why it happens: No property or site is connected for this source in the current project.

How to fix it:

  1. Check that the right project is selected at the top of the screen.
  2. On the Analytics screen, click Connect on the card, or click Property settings.
  3. Follow the steps for Google Search Console or Google Analytics 4.

What to check next: the Unified Dashboard shows the same problem as a Not connected badge with Connect now.

"Failed to disconnect …"

You may see "Failed to disconnect Search Console" or "Failed to disconnect Google Analytics".

Why it happens: The disconnect did not finish.

How to fix it:

  1. Refresh the page.
  2. Click Disconnect again. The button shows Disconnecting….

What to check next: when it works, the card shows + Available.

I disconnected and now reports ask me to connect

Why it happens: Disconnect stops this project using the source. Prism also asks Google to cancel the access it was given for that connection. Reports that need the source then show "Connect…" messages, such as Connect Search Console to see clicks.

How to fix it:

  1. Open Integrations & MCP.
  2. Click the connect button on the card and go through the Google steps again.
  3. Pick the same site or property to keep your history.

What to check next: if you pick a different site or property, Prism treats it as new and loads up to 180 days of history. Wait for that load before you judge the numbers.

I want to remove Prism's access

Why it happens: You may want Prism to stop reading your data.

How to fix it:

  1. In Prism, click Disconnect on the card. This also cancels Prism's Google access for that connection.
  2. You can also remove Prism in your Google Account: Google Account permissions.

What to check next: if you remove access in Google only, the Prism card shows ⚠ Needs attention after the next daily sync. Read Permissions and privacy.

A button on the Integrations screen does nothing

Why it happens: Only the Google Search Console and Google Analytics 4 cards work today. The Configure button, the MCP banner, the MCP Server card (Coming Soon) and the All Categories and Connected Only filters are not active yet.

How to fix it:

  1. Use the connect, Reauthenticate and Disconnect buttons on the Google cards.
  2. Ignore the other buttons for now.

What to check next: see Integrations.

Frequently asked questions

What does Needs attention mean?

The last daily sync failed, or Google access was removed or expired. Click Reauthenticate on the card to restore the connection.

Why does Prism say no GA4 properties were found?

The Google account you signed in with cannot see any GA4 property. Sign in with an account that has access, or ask the property owner to add you.

Does Disconnect remove Prism's access in Google?

Yes. When you click Disconnect, Prism also asks Google to cancel the access it was given for that connection. The card then shows + Available.

Will I lose my history if I reconnect?

No, if you pick the same site or property. A different site or property counts as a new connection and loads up to 180 days of history.
