Reconnect or Disconnect
Fix a connection that says Needs attention by reauthenticating, or disconnect Search Console or GA4 from a project.
3 min read Updated
Sometimes a Google connection stops working. This page shows you how to fix it, and how to remove a connection you no longer need.
Why a connection needs attention
A card shows ⚠ Needs attention when:
- the last sync failed, or
- Google access was removed or has expired. For example, someone removed Prism from their Google account permissions, or the Google account lost access to the site or property.
The card shows the error text, or The last sync failed. Reauthenticate to restore the connection. On the Analytics screen, the connector card shows Needs attention.
Reconnect (reauthenticate)
Open Integrations
In the left sidebar, under System, click Integrations & MCP.
Click Reauthenticate
On the card that says ⚠ Needs attention, click Reauthenticate. The button shows Redirecting….
Sign in to Google again
Choose a Google account that still has access, and allow read-only access.
Pick the site or property
Choose the same site or GA4 property as before, then click Connect site or Connect property.
Reconnecting clears the error. The card goes back to ● Connected. Prism checks the connection straight away, and the daily sync carries on. If you pick a different site or property, Prism treats it as a new connection and loads up to 180 days of history for it.
Disconnect
Disconnect when you no longer want this project to use a source. A source that is not connected is not synced.
Open Integrations
Go to the Integrations & MCP screen.
Click Disconnect
On the card, click Disconnect. The button shows Disconnecting… while it works. The card then shows + Available.
When you disconnect, Prism also asks Google to cancel the access it was given for that connection. To check, open your Google Account permissions page. See Permissions and privacy.

Frequently asked questions
What does Needs attention mean?
The last sync failed, or Google access was removed or has expired. Click Reauthenticate to restore the connection.
Will I lose my history if I reauthenticate?
No, as long as you pick the same site or GA4 property. Your history stays and Prism checks the connection again right away.
Does disconnecting in Prism remove Prism from my Google account?
When you disconnect, Prism also cancels the Google access it was given for that connection. To be sure, check your Google Account permissions page and remove Prism there if it is still listed.
What should I do if Reauthenticate keeps failing?
Make sure the Google account you sign in with can still see the site or property, and accept the read-only permission. If it still fails, contact enquiry@techmagnate.com.
